                          for Adolescents with Special Needs.
 

Special Voices is a non-competitive, musical, and social program for adolescents with intellectual and physical disabilities. This program uses a unique Karaoke invention to allow groups of teenagers to become “star” rock and pop back up vocalists.  Our goal is to develop Special Voices as a national park and recreation program and as a pediatric hospital recreation program for these adolescents so that they can experience the joy that creating and sharing music brings.

We are seeking to serve the same population as Special Olympics; however, we are a program for adolescents who love music.

                    The Mission of Special Voices

          Special Voices provides exciting, non competitive, ensemble musical performance and social participation opportunities for adolescents with intellectual and physical disabilities.

                     The Vision of Special Voices

           Special Voices provides a comprehensive, multi-level educational, social, and recreational experience.  Through the process of rehearsal and performance, participants learn teamwork, discipline, memorization, instruction following, commitment, punctuality, and how to make a public presentation.  In addition to these elements being essential to educational, social and recreational development, they are also fundamental to occupational success.  Inherent, energetic physical participation also helps performers combat childhood overweight and obesity.  The Special Voices experience allows teens with disabilities the opportunity to develop performance art skills, to build self confidence and to join in an interactive joyful sharing of their skills with other Special Voices performers, their families and their community.
